Its been so long i never write anything here, yet we still quarantined.
How you doin’ anyway? Feelin good? Or… Super good? Take care of yourself, we are in a tough war.

Okay, so, 3 months ago, i joined Ruangguru as an intern.

Wait, wait, howd you get there?

Okay, okay, chill. Sooo, for some short story, i got so bored during quarantine and surfed online. While surfin online, I got something on my mind saying things like,

“i think, you should, get a…. job?????”

I, impulsively, search for a job, ON TWITTER.

i use the keyword, like, “Lowongan intern writer” on twitter. And then I scroll, and scroll, and scroll and finally got something interesting.

“Lowongan UX Writer Intern Ruangguru”

i was like, “,intern what?”

Ive heard about UX/UI before, but what i dont really understand is, theres such a thing as UX Writting. Have you heard it, anyway?

After reading the requirements and job descriptions, I DMed the person who posted about this information. I asked her if this role is still available or not. Its kinda awkward because…. We have no mutual, im just a stranger surfing online, and now i asked her something formal.

I have no high expection but kinda excited to get her answer. Surprisingly, she responded. Omg, she is so kind and warm and stuff. She answered my question nicely and… i feel some click right away.

After the talk, she told me to send my CV and Portofolio to someone (that i assume, is my user). It didnt take that long. I mean, the interview and stuffs. Its only took me one week (If im not mistaken). And finally, i, officially, joined as an Intern, in a big Edu-Tech company, PT Ruang Raya a.k.a Ruangguru.

My first day went well. I give an introduction and stuff, get to know my other teams and stuff. Ohhhh, because we STILL in a middle of PANDEMIC, i work from home (fortunately).

I learnt about many things, including how to do this job and how to get involved.

As what i learn, writing for User Experience is more like, designing a product, but the output is SEA OF WORDS. You know, i kinda think i can beat Eminem, lol. I learn using Figma, Sketch, Slack, Trello, and Product Design tools.

My user taught me many things. She even let me get involved in her word-crafting-world. Its FUN. Especially when the main job is to get INVOLVED in many meetings.

Wait, you were hired to write, right?

Correct. But, writing for UX isnt the same thing as writing for an academic journal. You DIDNT write a long paragraph to prove theories. Instead, you need to keep in touch with many people in order to understand the context you are about to write for a product.

Please tell me more. Im getting curios!

WOooaaAAhhhHH. Okay, i’ll tell you more. But not now, lmao. (Please dont be mad)

First day (Wednesday, May 27, 2020)

I’ll keep y’all updated, see you on my next storryyyhhh!
